Choose the right procedure

MI-T is the official application model for principal residence applicants under Law 14/2013. It is not limited to digital nomads. Start with the category-specific UGE page: teleworkers, entrepreneurs and other categories have different conditions. A consular visa and a residence application inside Spain follow different routes.

What to prepare

Use the latest Spanish model and the current category checklist. Passport, evidence of the relevant activity, coverage and other documents depend on the route. For teleworkers, check the specific employment or professional relationship and Social Security requirements. Do not assume that one generic document list fits every UGE category.

Spanish fields explained

Titular identifies the principal applicant. Initial, renewal and other application types must match the actual procedure. Use the category and notification details required by the current model. Ministry translations help explain the fields but are informational; use the official Spanish application version for submission.

How to submit

UGE applications and later supporting documents are submitted electronically through the Ministry’s official residence-authorisation procedure. Who may submit depends on the category: it may be the applicant, a representative or the Spanish entity. Follow the portal’s certificate, signature, fee and attachment instructions.

After submission

Keep the registration receipt, monitor electronic notifications and answer any request for missing documents. A submitted form or paid fee is not approval. After a positive decision, check the applicable TIE procedure separately. MI-T residence approval and the physical identity card are different steps.
