How Spain's Wealth Tax works

Spain's Wealth Tax is an annual tax on the net value of certain assets owned on 31 December. Spanish tax residents are generally within scope on worldwide assets, while non-residents are generally taxed only on Spanish-situs assets. Tax residents using the special inbound-worker regime under article 93 are modeled by real obligation in this planning tool.

Rules-owned tax values

  • The state or applicable regional minimum exemption is resolved from Newcomer Rules.
  • The qualifying main-residence exemption is resolved from Newcomer Rules.
  • The gross-asset filing-warning threshold is resolved from Newcomer Rules.
  • The ITSGF minimum exemption and statutory bands are resolved from Newcomer Rules.

What this version does not model

  • The statutory income-based 60% quota limits.
  • Foreign tax credits and detailed treaty effects.
  • Ceuta/Melilla proportional relief.
  • Basque Country and Navarre foral wealth-tax regimes.

Important baseline note

This calculator uses the Newcomer Rules official-source baseline for tax year 2025, filed in 2026. Calculation output is bound to the exact Rules version used. It is a planning estimator, not a filing engine.
